The second Teclectic Podcast comes from wandler. He is influenced by the cold and static sound of the 80’s and the techno/dub music of the 90’s. wandler is resident at the Motoguzzi Records label nights at the Club Zukunft and gets regularly booked by Cityfox and Bar25.

Everything started when I was 8 years old and heard the “Construction Time Again” album from Depeche Mode. With Nitzer Ebb, the early Front 242 and the Klinik stuff, I totally immersed myself in electronic music. In the middle/late 90′s, after the first encounter with Plastikman, the Studio 1 sessions and the Maurizio tracks, it was clear to me that techno/minimal would be the next logical step.

Then you switched over to Techno. What came first, production or DJing?

I have been producing electronic music since I was 16 and Djing since I was 13 years old. I can’t really say when my music style changed to what’s considered to be techno music. My former music project (editor’s note: an industrial band) ended in 2000 and was followed by a two-years break. After that I started DJing with techno music and from 2003 also began producing.

So tell us a little bit about your mix.

I wanted to do a mix with some of my favorite records and tried to mix some older with some new ones. The mix reflects what I always try to achieve by mixing records: to tell a story and to build up an atmosphere full of power. That’s my understanding of deepness.

Your DJ/live sets became a bit calmer in the last few months. What happened?

Ahaha – I know, I’m getting older. But seriously: On one hand I guess I have become a little more open-minded in terms of music, on the other hand my music is a way to express my personality. And the more experience I have, the closer I get to the point where I can really see my personality reflected in my music.

What’s your favourite kind of party to DJ? Do you have any favourite locations?

Some of my favourite nights are our regular Motoguzzi Record label nights at the Club Zukunft in Zurich. We invite our favourite artists and it’s always a real pleasure to play with likeminded people like Function, Marcel Fengler, Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann or Peter van Hoesen. Other favourite locations, where I’ve had the chance to play (to mention only a few): Cityfox Zurich, Bar25 Berlin, Cabaret Club Zurich, Private Party Milano, Ritter Butzke Berlin and my residency Hive Club Zurich.

What’s coming up from you in 2010? Any new projects?

Yes – I’ve started a new collaboration with Mastra from Berne. It’s a very productive collaboration and we match perfectly. The results of our work have a big range from pure dub tracks to deep minimal techno. We’ll do our first live act together at the Future is now Festival in Zurich in April.

Can we expect any new releases from you soon?

Yes – a Wandler remix from Big Zis will be released at the end of March on Nation Music and as soon as Motoguzzi records has found a new distributor, a new Wandler EP will be released. Additionally I’m looking for some other vinyl labels to release on. There are a few Swiss labels which are interested in my tracks but I don’t have any confirmation yet.

summertime is near, it’s time to take the beautiful moto guzzi out of the garage for a long and winding ride through the clubscape. the duo rose & ulysse from paris have pottered around the garage and made the perfect tracks for this occasion.

after their highly successful debut on liebe*detail and the follow up single on edit-select, they are now lending motoguzzi records their skills. rose & ulysse produce mystical and dark, yet still gracefully built techno, which hits the spot marked with an x everytime. with one joint venture and two tracks each by themselves this ep is filled with fresh techno. even the greek gods dance to this twelve inch!

there’s an absolute world premiere to start with: the two members of the cult live act “die galoppierende zuversicht” (bruchstücke) remix one another. bang goes (one part of the duo) reworks the track “liver donor” of styro2000 (the other part of the team) to an unbelievably impulsive and pumping dance floor monster with a smile on the face. the three newcomers of pompelmoessap (plak records) on their part turn the spherical track “kimono” of cio d’or into a groovy bass hymn. and the boys from digitaline (cadenza) do their magic with wandler’s dub techno track “walk the line” with a smooth hypnotic interpretation.

cio d’or is anything but a newcomer. the “grande dame” of techno was resident in munich’s former cult club, “ultraschall”, has toured with richard bartz on his “kurbel tour” and released 12” eps on cologne labels “treibstoff” and “karmarouge”. not to mention that no well-sorted record case was lacking her production with gabriel ananda last year.

now comes her premiere on motoguzzi records. with three tracks that together form a perfect conceptual work, cio d’or delivers fresh, deep techno of the highest quality!

motoguzzi 005 comes from wandler again. his second ep on motoguzzi records kisses the two faces of the night: at first the monumental prime time ass shaking euphoria; and then the common self-absorption on a broad dub carpet.

motoguzzi records opens its doors and releases the first vinyl from its second 12” series with styro2000. he has already won the local soldering iron contest with his releases on the label bruchstücke and won the hearts of all machine lovers as one half of the live duo die galoppierende zuversicht with their legendary performance at the mutek festival 2005. for the fourth motoguzzi records release styro2000 presents a monster truck called “passfahrt”.

the third piece is the works of animatek, the hispanic snapper matador. on the b-side you’ll find – you guessed right – remixes by wandler and cosili.
