The Yangango EP by GREGORYTHME shows you two faces. On the A side with the deeper cut “Too Big To Fail” and on the B side through the bassline driven and euphoric title track “Yangango”. Both tunes are quite complex and geniusly arranged and at one point you can fly away on their crazy dynamic.

The DIGITALINE Edit of “Too Big To Fail” puts a new groove in front, takes it a bit more on the tooly side and highlights the fantastic synth work of the original mix.

CITYFOX is very happy to present a new name on its artist roster – LIVIU GROZA. He has been producing music for years already, but now he has come to develop a new sound that fits CITYFOX’s style perfectly. The release features a psychedelic deepness with extremely dynamic grooves, warm bassline, emotional and euphoric synthesizers as well as clever sampling. We could describe this EP further and deeper, but we think you should better find out on your own. These tunes are made to be listened to wherever and whenever you want to feel good.

After the brilliant work with TIGERLILY on the DIGITALINE track “Say So” GREGORYTHME teamed up again with the lovely singer and created another epic masterpiece. “No Time No Space” has the potencial to become one of this year’s big anthems, with TIGERLILY’s great voice, the catchy melody and the unbelievable synthline staying in your head for a long time!

KALABRESE and LEE JONES both kept the epic feeling of the original. KALABRESE added his unique funk and kind of a caribic touch to it. Imagine a lonely beach with nothing else to do as watching the stars out there. LEE reworked Tigerlily’s voice, combined it with a massive bass and takes it a step darker into the night, made for dancefloors and big soundsystems!

As the title says, this piece of music is timeless and also spaceless, to say it in a more Universal language.

CITYFOX is very happy to welcome a new artist on board – INXEC aka CHRISTOPHER SYLVESTER. We’re always looking for this kind of freshness and he definately has plenty of it! His genre-mixing and high quality production skillz are speaking for itself: be it the deep tech-housy “Angel”, the bass-heavy & funky “Come on!!” or the ultimate groove of “Nightingale”.

Angel takes you on a journey with it’s catchy and flying synth line, right down to Come on!!, the future soundtrack of an amusement park, before it all ends in the mad jungle of Nightingale. All of these 3 stunning cuts are clearly made for the Club, as well as the superb DYED SOUNDOROM remix of “Angel” – a pure and massive groove for primetime dancefloors!

We are very happy to present the 4th Teclectic Podcast. Gregory Poncet is one part of the well-known duo Digitaline. He has been releasing under the name of Gregorythme since 2006 on various labels such as Bruchstuecke, Minibar, Sushitech, Minimood, Phictiv, GS Zurich and Cityfox. Gregorythme is definitely more a song writer than a tool maker and he shows us an exquisite taste for pure grooves and psychedelic atmospheres.

Hello Greg – how did everything start? What is your musical background?

First I used to play the guitar in two or three bands here in Lausanne. I mainly composed instrumental pieces made of live-played guitar loops. Then I switched to electronic music. But, at that time, making electronic music was a personal and intimate activity. There were not many friends pushing me in this direction or wanting to work with me on this. In this artistic loneliness… I met Laurent and we decided to start Digitaline.

Where do you get your inspiration?

Mmmh – hard to say. I mainly get my inspiration from practicing in my studio. From sampling sometimes, when I am listening to music of all kinds. I have an iTunes playlist called “ideasss” to which I add every track I feel I should try to make something with. I am not a great fan of making edits, but sometimes just a voice, a percussion or a bassline is the beginning of the whole creative process.

Some years ago I heard you for the very first time at Dachkantine in Zurich. It was the time of your Bruchstuecke release. How did this time influence you?

Dachkantine was a great club, maybe the greatest. It offered us the opportunity to play in a highly energetic place, in all sizes of rooms and dance floors, at night, in the morning, in the afternoon. And I met so many artists there, which sometimes resulted in new collaborations. For example, I was introduced by Bang Goes to Markus Unterfinger from Bruchstuecke in the middle of a party. Then, on the following Monday, my demo went on the top of the demo CDs sent to Bruchstuecke, and I made my first release on the label.

You have been releasing a lot on Cityfox recently. Tell us about your connection to the fox.

I first met Billy from Cityfox at Dachkantine too! After the Dachkantine era a lot of parties where organized here or there in Zurich and we had the chance to play at the first Cityfox party at Haerterei. After that, we carried on working together, at first through bookings only and now with releases on the label as well.
It’s my chance to have met someone who gets involved in my musical production, who gives me feedbacks and tries to take the best out of so many unfinished tracks I send. I ‘m not very good, but getting better in finalizing tracks, so it really helps to have a second pair of ears available. I am also getting a bit tired of sending demo as links by e-mail to labels. It’s a very good feeling to know that once you have a good track – which doesn’t happen so often! – you know where to release it, and you’re sure that it will be released in the best conditions. That’s also why I have just decided to make my own label.

Your Digitaline release on Cadenza just got out. What are you up to in the near future? Can we expect any new releases from you soon? Any new plans?

After the EP on Cadenza, I just released a 2-tracker EP on my brand new label Raoul Records with Digitaline. The EP got a lot of attention and support in the DJ scene, lots of people let me know that they support me with the label project. I have been ready for this next step for quite a while already!
The second EP on Raoul will be out in January. It features various artists with great musicians from Lausanne and Geneva! I am very excited about the idea of making compilations, I will do one every 3 or 4 releases on the label: Finding musical pearls that match and press a record with that makes me really happy.
With Gregorythme, there is a lot to get released in the next months, mainly on Cityfox and Raoul. My next EP on Cityfox will be composed with one original from me called “No time no Space” plus one remix from Kalabrese. And I’ll release the third EP on Raoul Records.

The live set of this podcast is featuring some live versions of my latest and upcoming releases. I hope you enjoy it!

We are more than happy to present MARK HENNING’s debut release and welcome him on the label. We are fans of his music since day one, and this year seems to be his strongest! Mark provided us with seven perfectly fitting tracks to form this double 12” coming in volume 1 and 2. His skillz on the Roland Jupiter Syntheziser are the main forces behind all the jams, combined with his very own edgy club funk. He is truly a mastermind with a unique sound, he knows to create this certain feeling and athmosphere, whether its mental, clever or deeply booty shaking, we totally find what we’re looking for in his music. We are very happy to present the 3rd Teclectic Podcast. Amar Derradj started his solo project Canson with a first release on Stattmusik in 2002 and can be regarded as an integral part of Zurich’s underground dance scene. His output also found a home on labels such as GS Zurich, Cityfox Ltd., Bar25, Eminor and Sub Static!

Hello Amar – How did everything start? What is your musical background?

I have always been interested in music and technics. Electronic music touched my life in 1993. One year later I bought my first sampler/synthesizer and started to play around with it. In 2002 I started my project Canson with the first release “One Call” on Stattmusik. In the same year, I founded the label Handheld with two friends, which received positive feedback from DJs and the media. Unfortunately we quit our label Handheld some years ago. My output found a home on labels such as GS Zurich, Cityfox Ltd., Bar25, Eminor, Sub Static – to mention just the most important ones.

So tell us something about your mix. Is it a pretty good example of what we would hear from you at the club?

I recorded it some weeks ago in my home studio with the usual set-up. It’s a little round-up of the tracks I have released and played within the last few months. When I have the chance to play longer live sets than usual – which means over 1.5 hours – I dig out some of my older stuff and blend it in. I prefer to play in the morning hours or at a relaxed afterhour, because my music is more mellow and emotional than most straightforward dance floor tunes.

What kind of dance music do you love? Do you also listen to other music?

I like the recent tunes from Nina Kraviz, Gregorythme, Guillaume Coutu Dumont – just to name a few. I love the old records from Moritz von Oswald and Roman Flügel. But I hardly listen to dance music at home. I used to work in a record store for six years and that resulted in a diversified taste of music. Radio Dept., Piano Magic and Wechsel Garland are some of my favourite bands.

What is your favourite kind of party to play at? Do you have any favourite locations?

I just came back home from my very last weekend at Bar25 in Berlin. I always loved to play and party there. The location and the crowd were perfect for my music. I also like to play in Hamburg with my friends from Liebe*Detail and Eminor. I just love the relaxed vibe up there.
In my home town Zurich I am regularly booked by GS and Cityfox. Cabaret, Zukunft and Hive are the clubs I play at and go to – most of the owners are good friends of mine. Of course, I love to be part of nice open air parties as well.

You recently played with your mate Cosili under the name “Anatol”. Tell us more about this project. Are there any releases planed?
Anatol is a very old project from the 90s. Cosili and I had our first release on the Zurich based label called Stattmusik. When we used to play, it always had some live-jam-character. After we stopped the project some years ago, we were asked to play again at the “Future is now Festival” in Zurich. This gig was a total blast. We had so much fun that we decided to get together more often again. We are not recording at the moment. But we are thinking about going to the studio very soon.

What are you up to in the near future? Can we expect any new releases from you soon?

I was asked to do a remix for Mark Henning’s track “S’All Good” on Tic Tac Toe Records. Mark’s original version inspired me very much, so I ended up with two totally different remixes. I am quite happy that Kenneth (aka Patrik Bateman / Owner of TTT Rec.) decided to release both versions.
I am also looking forward to the upcoming Fabric 54 mixed by Damian Lazarus. My new and still unreleased track for Cityfox called “Sleeping” will be on it. And hopefully there are some other tracks to be released very soon.
